Printemps
Springtime
(par Victor Hugo)
Voici donc les longs jours, lumière, amour, délire!
So here are the long days, light, love, delirium!
Here is the spring! March, April with a sweet smile.
Mai fleuri, juin brûlant, tous les beaux mois amis!
May in bloom, June ablaze, all the beautiful, friendly months!
Les peupliers, au bord des fleuves endormis,
The poplar trees, asleep on the river banks,
Se courbent mollement comme de grandes palmes;
Bow gently like great palm trees;
L'oiseau palpite au fond des bois tièdes et calmes;
The bird flutters in the depths of the warm, calm forest;
It seems that everything laughs, and that the green trees
Are joyful to be together and say verses to one another.
Le jour naît couronné d'une aube fraîche et tendre;
The day is born crowned in a fresh and tender dawn;
The evening is full of love; in the night, you think you can hear,
Through the immense shadow and under the blessed sky,
Quelque chose d'heureux chanter dans l'infini.
Something happy singing in the infinity.
