Où l'Homme-Dieu descendit jusqu'à nous.

Le Rédempteur a brisé toute entrave.
La terre est libre, et le ciel est ouvert.

Some Information about this carol:
Did you know that it was originally a French poem? It was written on 3 December 1847 by the poet Placide Cappeau (1808-1877). His poem was then set to music by the French composer Adolphe-Charles Adam (1803-1856)
Here are two interesting facts:
1. Placide Cappeau said that he wrote the poem whilst he was feeling bored during a journey to Paris! It helped him to pass the time. Who could have imagined that a moment of boredom would result in one of the greatest Christmas carols performed all over the world!
2. When he was a child, Placide was involved in a serious accident which resulted in the loss of his right hand.
